So I bought a Commodore 128 from eBay listed as the same old crap "tested & working". Of course when it turns up at your house...
Bad Dudes Vs DragonNinja (Data East, 1988)⠀ ⠀ Bad Dudes Vs DragonNinja, also called Bad Dudes Vs. Dragon Ninja, often referred to simply as Bad Dudes, and known in Japan simply as DragonNinja (ドラゴンニンジャ?), is a 1988 arcade game developed and published by Data East. It was also ported to many computer and game console home systems. The game was followed by a 1991 spiritual successor Two Crude Dudes (known in Japan as Crude Buster). After Data East became defunct due to their bankruptcy in 2003, G-Mode bought the intellectual rights to the arcade game as well as most other Data East games and licensed them globally.⠀ ⠀ The game is a side-scrolling beat 'em up where the players are set in the role of the titular duo tasked with rescuing "President Ronnie" from ninja kidnappers. It was met with commercial success, and a generally positive to mixed critical reception. It has since become widely known for its general premise and introduction cut scene.⠀ ⠀ #fb #tweet #blog

GridRunner - (Jeff Minter, 1982) Gridrunner is a series of shoot 'em up games written by Jeff Minter. The original Gridrunner was published for various 8-bit systems in 1982 and 1983 with Gridrunner 2 following in 1983. A third installation, Voidrunner was released in 1987. Confusingly, Gridrunner 2 was released in the US under the name Attack of the Mutant Camels, which was also the title used for a totally different game released the same year by Minter. The original game was written in a week. The series was revived in 2002 with Gridrunner++, for modern platforms, and followed by later games in the series. R-Type - (Irem, 1987) R-Type is a side scrolling shoot-em-up arcade game produced by Irem in 1987. The player controls a space fighter named the R-9 to defend humanity against a mysterious powerful alien life-form known as the "Bydo". The game is notable for programming which was ambitious for the time, with a wide range of both power-ups and enemies, as well as levels of varying design and length, and sprites larger than a single screen. #fb #tweet #blog

F/A 18 Interceptor (Electronic Arts, 1988)⠀ ⠀ The game is set in the San Francisco Bay Area. Notable landmarks include the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge and Alcatraz Island. The Electronic Arts headquarters in San Mateo are also depicted. The player can also take off and land from the following airfields: San Francisco International Airport, Oakland International Airport, Moffett Federal Airfield, and USS Enterprise, anchored approximately 20 miles offshore. Finally, when selecting a location to start a free flight, pressing the [0] key starts the player on uninhabited ground far away from the main game area. This is in fact supposed to be Edwards Air Force Base, a location that was not actually implemented in the final game.⠀ ⠀ Only air-to-air weapons are available, and are limited to AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles, and the M61 Vulcan Gatling gun (500 rounds). Chaff and flares are available for defense against enemy missiles.⠀ ⠀ There are six missions, enemies being referred as "terrorists". The first takes place on September 1, 1994. Frogger - (Sega, 1981) Frogger is a 1981 arcade game developed by Konami. It was licensed for North American distribution by Sega-Gremlin and worldwide by Sega itself. It is regarded as a classic from the golden age of video arcade games, noted for its novel gameplay and theme. The object of the game is to direct frogs to their homes one by one by crossing a busy road and navigating a river full of hazards. The Frogger arcade version is an early example of a game with more than one CPU, as it used two Z80 processors. By 2005, Frogger in its various home video game incarnations had sold 20 million copies worldwide, including 5 million in the United States. #fb #tweet #blog

Blue Max (Synapse Software, 1983)⠀ ⠀ Blue Max is a video game developed and published by Synapse Software, originally released for the Commodore 64 and Atari 8-bit computers in 1983. In 1984 it was ported to the ZX Spectrum by U.S. Gold. in 1987 Atari Corp. published it in cartridge form for the then-new Atari XEGS.⠀ ⠀ The player controls a Sopwith Camel biplane during World War I, attempting to shoot down enemy planes and bomb targets on the diagonally scrolling terrain. It has strong similarities to the arcade game Zaxxon. The game is named after the medal Pour le Mérite, informally known as Blue Max. Its theme song is "Rule, Britannia!".⠀ ⠀ In 1984, Synapse released a sequel, Blue Max 2001, with a futuristic setting, but otherwise similar in design to the original.⠀ ⠀ #fb #blog #tweet

Project Firestart (Electronic Arts, 1989)⠀ ⠀ Project Firestart is a cinematic action/adventure game for the Commodore 64 computer system. It was designed by Jeff Tunnell and Damon Slye and published by Electronic Arts in 1989. The game features strong survival horror elements and a story with multiple paths and endings.⠀ ⠀ IGN has called it the first "fully formed vision of survival horror as we know it today," citing its balance of action and adventure, limited ammunition, weak weaponry, vulnerable main character, feeling of isolation, storytelling through journals, graphic violence, open exploration, cut-scenes, multiple endings and use of dynamically triggered music—all of which were characteristic elements of later games in the survival horror genre. Thing On A Spring (Gremlin Graphics, 1985)⠀ ⠀ Thing On A Spring is a side-scrolling platform/puzzle game produced in 1985 for the Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64 by Gremlin Graphics. Gameplay involves controlling a character resembling Zebedee from The Magic Roundabout through a toy factory while avoiding evil toys.⠀ ⠀ The game was written by Jason Perkins, Anthony Clarke and the graphics were by Mark Rogers, with musical score composed by Rob Hubbard, his first composition for a game. In his Zzap!64 review, Julian Rignall exclaimed, "The sound is unbelievable, I won't describe it but just wait until you hear it; words fail."⠀ ⠀ Along with Rockford from the game Boulder Dash, the Thing On A Spring character became a regular graphic element printed in the margins of Zzap!64.⠀ ⠀ Thing Bounces Back was released as a sequel in 1987, also by Gremlin.⠀ ⠀ #fb #tweet #blog
